A multi-split system is an air conditioning system that consists of several indoor units and one outdoor unit. The principle of its operation is that each indoor unit is connected to an external unit using a separate air conditioning gas route.
The external unit of a multi-split system is usually installed on the roof of a building or on its facade. It contains a compressor that compresses the gas and directs it to the piping system connecting the indoor units. Each indoor unit has its own evaporator, which cools or heats the air depending on the operating mode of the system.
When the system is operating in cooling mode, the compressor of the outdoor unit compresses gas, which is then directed into the pipeline connecting the outdoor unit to the indoor unit. In the indoor unit, gas enters the evaporator and evaporates, cooling the air inside the room. Then the same flow of air, but already warm, returns to the room through the air conditioner.
In heating mode, the system works similarly, only gas first passes through the heat exchanger of the indoor unit, in which it heats the air. Then it, but already cool, again enters the room through the indoor unit.
